Celebrated my 35th bday last night ! I would give the ambiance 5/5. Food 4/5. Service 5/5 Jeffrey was very attentive and polite. He gave us good recommendations! I had rack of lamb which is very salty (in my opinion) but still delicious! My husband finished them to the bones!(as in the pic) He had asahi tuna and it was yummy. Complimentary creme brulee for the birthday girl! Love it and we ordered additional desert which is Sooo Good! I forgot the name! We would def comeback !
We had a great experience at The Gruene Door. The server was attentive and the food was great. The crab cakes were average but the rack of lamb was spot on as well as the chimichurrie steak. Perhaps the best part was the Belgium waffle bread pudding.
We were relocating to New Braunfels and had been looking at houses all afternoon when we discovered this place while drinking wine at a wine bar that is across the street from the restaurant. I was curious so I Googled The Gruene Door and found myself enticed by the menu. So we finished our wine then crossed the street for an early dinner. We enjoyed several appetizers and a bottle of wine at a comfortable and charming patio table. Perfection. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!
Had a nice time. Lamb chops were delicious however my, expresso beef rib was a little over cooked and dry. Creme brulee was wonderful! Wish it came in a larger portion!
Wedding anniversary dinner with my beautiful wife, wanted to go to a place that served lamb chops. Was pleasantly rewarded with a beautiful restaurant, when you first walk up you are greeted by outside dining with a wood-burning fireplace and outdoor heaters creating a wonderful wood smoke smell in the air. Upon walking in we were greeted by an amazing ambience. Taken to our table you taking the beautiful look of the restaurant. Our waiter was polite knowledgeable and friendly. Made a few suggestions that we liked and put magnificent drinks in front of us from a truly talented mixologist. Followed by appetizers main course and dessert everything was flawless every step of the way. Will definitely revisit again
Excellent dining. The chef is incredible. I had a Ribeye, and it was cooked to perfect. Excellent seasoning. The restaurant is a little dark, and as you walk in, it has a feel of mid 1900's. There is a little jazzy music in the background, but you can still talk comfortably with your guests. The service was okay. Our server was nice, but I wish she would have been a little more attentive.
Absolutely phenomenal restaurant. Everything we've eaten has been exceptional. Service is great, food quality is awesome. I would highly recommend this place to anyone! I had the ribeye with sauteed spinach (the spinach is the best I've had anywhere!) and a side salad with the apple cider vinaigrette (which was so delicious, we purchased a container of dressing to use at home.) They have great gluten free options as well. The panacotta for dessert was absolutely delicious too!
I had previously been to this restaurant alone on a visit to New Braunfels and just by chance my mother in law and I decided to stop there for her birthday lunch this past week. It was even better than I remembered (which was already great!)!! Our server, Pearl, took wonderful care of us and even indulged us by creating a fancy layered “birthday shot” called a B52 that’s a tradition for my mother in law and I on her birthday. We can’t wait to come back for more delicious food and top notch service at this wonderful establishment.
From the moment we walked in to this beautiful restaurant I was very hopeful, and the experience was not a disappointment! We enjoyed a delicious lunch. We had the Angus burger that was thick yet perfectly moist, well seasoned and perfectly cooked surf on a Hawaiian bun. Paired with french fries that were just as perfect, not super thick fries nor were they skinny and they were well salted. We also enjoyed the salmon, for me the flash fried spinach was insanely delicious! The service was on point. We were never waiting for a refill of iced tea or water. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish well-paced meal. We will definitely be back to try dinner and I am sure it will be another perfect experience.
